The Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 2d/1n is a short Trail but challenging hike which offers amazing views of the Andes Mountains, lush forests, Rainforest, Inca ruins along the Trail, and the famous Sun Gate or known as Inti Punku. The trek covers a distance of about 12 km / 8 miles on the first day and you don’t hike on the second day because you will take a bus Round Trip to Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes Town.

On the first day, you will start the trek at Kilometer 104 and hike for about 3-4 hours to reach the fascinating Inca ruins of Wiñay Wayna, located at 2,650 meters / 8,690 feet above sea level. The trail is mostly uphill, passing through lush forests, rainforest waterfalls and several Inca ruins, including the impressive Inca Ruins of Wiñay Wayna. Then, you will keep hiking towards the Sun Gate, where you will get your first breathtaking views of Machu Picchu.

On the second day, you will wake up and have breakfast early at your hotel. Then, You will take a bus up to Machu Picchu to explore “The Lost City of Incas” before the crowds arrive. You will have a great guided tour by your experience Tour guide. Some of the must-see sites in Machu Picchu include the Temple of the Sun, sundeal or known as the Intiwatana Stone, and the Temple of the Condor and much more. After Machu Picchu tour, you will take a bus back to Aguas Calientes to have some lunch and catch your train back to Cusco.

 

Overall, the 2-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a great chance for those with limited time but still want to experience the Wonders of the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu and much more.
