Food
Every trek tours includes a culinary buffet; we work with local restaurants in order to support the local community, they work with all biosafety protocols. You will enjoy full breakfast, lunch all served hot and tasty. The key to feeling good on a trek like this is eating well and staying hydrated.
Meals are all served family style – large plates for everyone to take what they like. And all food restrictions are honored. No matter if you are vegetarian or gluten free, you will always be well fed.
Rainbow Mountain Tour Full Day
- DISTANCE: 8 km / 5 miles, 5 hours approx
- Day1: Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley

- Minimun Elevation: 4,500 m / 14,720 ft.
- Maximun Elevation: 5,200 m / 16,640 ft.
- Weather: From Abril to October dry season, from November to March wet season.
- Departure Dates: Every Day.
Day 1: CUSCO – CUSIPATA – LLAQTO – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – RED VALLEY – CUSCO
We will pick you up at your hotel around 04:30 am. Then we drive nearly 3 hours in our private van to the trailhead (Llaqto 4,600 m / 14,720 ft). On the way called cusipata we will stop to provide you breakfast for the trek ahead of you. After enjoying our breakfast we will drive 1hour more. Then we will hike up around 2 hours roughly until the top of the RAINBOW MOUNTAIN. On the way up you will have one of the most spectacular views on the planet. Once we reach the top of the Rainbow Mountain you will have time to explore the area and take pictures. We will spend approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour and your private guide will explain everything about this amazing place.
After enjoying the Rainbow Mountains, we keep hiking in order to explore the majestic RED VALLEY which takes another 2 hours, also this is the trail who will take us back to the trailhead (Llaqto), where we catch our van, then we drive for one hour more to our Lunch spot Cusipata (3,250m/11,000feet) where you will be given delicious food and then back to Cusco arriving at your hotel around 04:00 pm roughly.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Don’t forget you are hiking (above 5,200 m / 16,640 ft, 4,500 m / 14,720 ft), make sure you are fully prepared. this trek is challenging and very rewarding at the same time. you should be in shape and healthy. We really recommend you to spend at least two to three days in Cusco or in other places with the same elevation to acclimatize and drink plenty of fluid before starting the hike.

Booking with Runas Expeditions
If you are doing alternative treks or any others tours to Machu Picchu , you should book three months in advance, before doing any tours in Peru.

We accept payments through PayPal and Western Union, Paypal does charge 6% so the total per person is $106 and should be sent to runasexpeditions@gmail.com. We will email you your booking invoice and confirmation once your details and deposit are received."

Please do not forget to email us the tracking code (MTCN) so that we can pick up the money and proceed with your reservation. Also, keep in mind that Western Union has its own transfer fees. The final amount that needs to arrive in Cusco is a minimum of 70% advance; you can also pay the entire amount up front. Once you do the deposit we will send the New booking invoice.
